Borland Turbo Delphi is a rapid application development environment from Borland Software Corporation that revives the classic “Turbo” brand to make Windows programming fast and approachable. Released in 2006, it centers on the Delphi (Object Pascal) language and the Visual Component Library (VCL) to build native Win32 desktop and database applications through drag-and-drop design and event-driven coding. Turbo Delphi was offered in two editions: a free Explorer edition aimed at students and hobbyists, and a Professional edition with full extensibility, including the ability to install third-party components. A companion product, Turbo Delphi for .NET, targeted Microsoft’s .NET platform. The IDE provides code completion, refactoring, an integrated debugger, and database connectivity through technologies such as dbExpress, helping developers prototype and deliver applications quickly. Turbo Delphi gave individual developers and small teams an affordable, capable toolchain that remained compatible with the broader Delphi ecosystem and a large library of existing components.
